Arbitration services

Niina Palaja regularly acts as an arbitrator appointed by arbitration institutions and as arbitrator in ad hoc arbitration tribunals appointed by the parties.

Arbitration institutes include inter alia the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FAI), the Arbitration Board of the Turku Chamber of Commerce and the International Court of Arbitration (ICC). In institutional arbitration, an arbitration institute appoints an arbitrator, and the procedure is governed by its rules.

In ad hoc arbitration, the parties appoint the members of the arbitral tribunal, and the arbitration is governed by the arbitration law of the country chosen by the parties. The rules of arbitration institutions are more detailed and elaborate than general laws and therefore parties often find institutional arbitration more manageable.
